Cotton pickers from Converse	Education	These Converse College girls were among the hundreds of volunteers who went into the fields of Spartanburg County to pick cotton.The cotton crop was endangered due to a shortage of farm labor. Gas and tire rationing led to the use of the 1890 model wagon that was filled with hay. The horse-drawn wagon on East Main Street displays advertising for Montgomery & Crawford.
